Top 10 dresses Grammy Awards 2014

Here are my Top 10 dresses from this year's fabulous Grammy Awards 2014!
Using Polyvore I've put together my top ten favourites from the event. As with my post about my top ten from the Golden Globes 2014 it was far too hard to actually choose an order so I'll  just go through each as pictured and no particular order. There were some really amazing dresses this year! Lots of whites but lots of glitz and glamour too.

Top 10 Dresses Grammy Awards 2014

So starting from top left and going clockwise, first we have Iggy Azalea who wore this stunning gown from Elie Saab's pre-autumn/winter 2013 collection. This probably is my favourite though, it's so chic and elegant. Plus, it's makes her look amazing WITHOUT showing too much flesh! I was hard pushed to find 10 lovely dresses that weren't too revealing and I feel it's very sad that women in the spot light (and in general often) feel the only way to look beautiful and get attention is by dressing provocatively and show too much. Beyonce's performance outfit for example is just beyond. Iggy here looks sexy and glamorous in this dress and it's definitely one I wish I could afford.

Next is Beyonce's gown from Michael Costello. This is a very pretty dress! I love the floral lace design and it's truly unique, if a little too see-through and very revealing! It has a fabulous figure-hugging shape which is great to show off Beyonce's perfect body that we all love.

Katy Perry's dress was actually taken straight from the Valentino Couture spring/summer 2014 catwalk! I love the whimsical, fairytale feel of the dress which is very spring season. The unique music notes design on the under skirt makes her stand-out when she could easily have become washed out in this delicate pale dress and adds excitement and wonder.

Ciara wore a very glamorous bronze Emilio Pucci gown which perfectly showed off her beautiful baby bump. There is a risk at events like this that women feel like they need to wear dresses that hide their bump or draw attention far away from it. But this can often lead to them looking frumpy or even just bizarre. We love seeing an adorable baby bump and can't help but coo so be proud and show it off. This dress leaves a perfect balance though and the detailing all over the dress is outstanding, let alone that on the trim and particularly the trail.

Chrissy Teigen wore a very sexy Johanna Johnson gown. The sequins are so glamorous and it had a very flattering fish tail shape. Despite the very low sweetheart neckline, the belt's a nice touch.

Brooklyn Haley chose this fabulous sparkly, sequin dress from Sherri Hill. I thought she carried it off beautifully and her long flowing ringlets really complemented her look well.

Paris Hilton went for a House of Milani white gown with fantastic detail! It was covered in swarovski crystals (of course!) with a halter neck detailing at the front, with a surprising and spectacular back, featuring ornate swirl and crystal design on the sides. So much love for this dress!

Anna Kendrick's gown was by Azzaro and had a fabulous bodice design. I love the strap detail amongst all the jewels. Admittedly a little too much cleavage but the shire skirt helps to add sophistication and style.

Then we have Anna Faris's gorgeous strapless dress in a wonderful navy blue by Fitriani. Although more understated than some of the other dresses seen with their glitz and sequins, it has a lovely sweetheart neckline, long train and a very chic silhouette. The ruffles around the hips would often add pounds to any girl but she wears it beautifully and looks amazing.

Last but not least is Taylor Swift with her Gucci Première dress. I love the glamorous 't-shirt' style over the top of an otherwise plain strapless gold dress. It adds modesty and screams glamour, chic and style. I also HAD to include a picture of her close up to show how wonderful her hair and make-up looked. She had her hair in a ponytail with a side sweep fringe and it just went perfectly with the dress. I also loved her glamorous smoky-eye look with light pink lips and flawless complexion. True effortless beauty and glamour when it can be achieved for a red carpet event!

Which was your favourite? Did you think there was a better one I missed? Let me know what you think of their dresses...

Inspired by Mary-Kate Olsen #MondayMuse

I thought I'd start doing some #MondayMuse posts to brighten up my rainy Mondays. My Monday Muse this week definitely  has to be Mary-Kate Olsen. I absolutely love her chic sense of style!
Mainly what I love about her style is how effortlessly gorgeous she looks. She has a really great every-day style and she always looks so elegant when attending a glamorous event. Using my polyvore, I've created a collage of some of my favourite pictures, which I think best shows off her fabulous sense of style.

Mary-Kate Olsen #mondaymuse

I love her skinny jeans, long coat or just casual chic shirt, oversize bag and ankle boots. Plus she looks a real star in her oversize sunglasses! I wish it was sunny more where I am so I could wear sunglasses like hers more often!

I always love her hair too. I'm always trying to have my hair like hers though not sure I pull it off quite as well as she does yet. The best way to achieve her hair style is to let your hair dry over-night or partially blow-dry. Add some TIGI Bed Head Small Talk while it's still wet to tame frizz and add volume. If you do blow dry, remember to spritz with some Tigi S-Factor Flat Iron Shine Spray Heat Defender to prevent your hair from drying out and becoming brittle. If you feel you need to de-frizz more, then complete your look with some TIGI Bed Head After Party once it's dry.

Her make-up always makes her look so glamorous too. She tends to have a smokey-eyes look, adding a bit of edginess to her style and often couples this with nude or pale lips for every-day look, or bright reds for evening events. Her smokey-eye look can easily be achieved with a soft pencil eye-liner, gently smudged in.

Which is your favourite style?

Who's your #MondayMuse? Send me your links! I'd love to see.

Top 10 Golden Girls, Golden Globes 2014

We all love these glamorous events to see the women's wonderful dresses and the Golden Globes 2014 didn't disappoint!

Using Polyvore, here's my top 10 dresses from the event.

It was sooo hard to choose! There was such a big selection of gorgeous dresses! I can't even put an order on the 10 I've got here. So, just going clockwise round, I'll go through these dresses, who's wearing what and why I chose them.

First up is Cate Blanchett's stunning gown. She wore Armani Privé Couture from their 2013 Autumn/Winter collection. I've heard lots of talk about this been the favourite this year and you can definitely see why! It is absolutely stunning and if I had to chose my top dress it would probably have to be this one.

Michelle Dockery wore this fabulous gown by Oscar de la Renta from their new Spring/Summer 2014 collection. I absolutely love the level of detail and how it flairs at the bottom in an unusual shape. Despite the light colour, it doesn't wash her out and I think she wore it beautifully.

Giuliana Rancic chose a Lorena Sarbu gown. This is definitely one of my favourites too! I adore the colour and the beading is wonderful, particularly how it flows elegantly down from the bodice. The netting is a fabulous addition too, it looks like a strapless dress but there's just that extra bit there to hold you together so you don't have to worry about any embarrassing moments!

Sofia Vergara wore this gown from Zac Posen, although simple compared to the others I've chosen having no beading or detailing at all, the shape of the dress speaks for itself and it truly speaks volumes! Plus, it's ideal to accessorise in any way, which she has done perfectly by wearing this breathtaking necklace by Lorraine Schwartz. It looks like they were meant to go together!

Margot Robbie wore this show stopping Gucci gown, decorated with embroidered crystals AND emeralds! It has a plunging neckline AND high slit up the leg, which can risk raising a few eyebrows but she pulled it off with great poise and elegance. The cream colour and sleek cut gives the dress a very chic finish.

Another plunging neckline dress was worn by Amy Adams in her Valentino Couture dress. This one was backless but still she looked very classy and fabulous in it. The bright red skirt half complemented the burgundy top half and truly made her stand out from the crowd!

Kate Beckinsale wore this outstanding gown by Zuhair Murad Couture! It's definitely a red carpet dress and the height of glamour! I love the sweetheart neckline, figure hugging curves and the level of exquisite glittering detail. She looks totally dazzling! I've seen lots of comments on this how she was being too safe and predictable wearing a dress like this but honestly, why change perfection? Particularly if you've found a style that works for you and makes you feel comfortable and confident.

Emma Roberts wore this sleek black dress by Lanvin that was custom made for her! Again, it's plain but so sleek and glamorous! Just off the shoulder straps aren't something we see often in dresses but they can look fabulous, particularly with accentuated sweetheart necklines like this. The dress is very classy and chic and, if you can afford it, a style essential to every wardrobe.

Kaley Cuoco looked very autumnal floral in this amazing gown by Rani Zakhem Courture from their Autumn/Winter 2013 collection. I love the soft pastel pinks and how the flowers blend so well. It's a dress you could wear any time of year, which doesn't often happen. And the boning in the bodice is a fabulous touch.

Last but not least is Jessica Chastain wearing a custom made Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci gown. I totally adore the feather detailing on this dress. You can just imagine two gorgeous black swans embracing her when looking at this dress. It's a truly fabulous design. It has in incredible shape and design and having it black makes it look very chic, sleek and stylish.

Which is your favourite? Was there a better dress you think I missed?

Anniversary Meal

It was my boyfriend and I's anniversary recently so we went out for a wonderful meal at Prezzo. I wore this gorgeous dress from Monsoon. It's a couple years old now I must admit but something this quality never fails and it's worth so much I very rarely wear it. As you can imagine with Monsoon and this level of detail, it cost a lot. But actually, I only paid a steal price of £15! I was in Clark's Village when they were holding a sale and they had MASSIVELY reduced their stock. It's always worth checking the expensive shops when there's a sale on. Even if you think there might not be anything in your price range still despite the reductions, you might be pleasantly surprised!

Of course (as you will know if you have read my previous outfit posts) I wore the Swarovski necklace my boyfriend got me for my birthday, and the matching ring but you can't see it in this picture.
I decided to couple the dress with my favourite long black cardigan to look more sleek and chic and a waist belt to show off my figure more. I highly recommend getting a plain black waist belt like mine here from River Island because it's such a good staple for my wardrobe. I wear it so often day and night if my tops or dresses are either ill-fitting or too plain. You can just about see in the picture beneath, I wore my black stiletto heels from New Look to finish the look.

I wore my hair down in curls with a middle parting for a more chic than glamour look and minimal eye make-up but bright red lipstick as a key feature piece and to complement the bright roses on the dress.

I absolutely love the detailing on this dress! It's silk, hand stitched roses, leaves and buds with a bird of paradise. It also has a wonderful golden/brassy beading design around the edges too.

I highly recommend buying a Monsoon dress if you're going to spend a lot on a dress. The quality is outstanding, with exquisite detail and they're built to last. Plus, maybe more importantly, their fit is fantastic, I'm always so comfortable in them and their sizes are true to form so you don't need to buy a size up as you might imagine with a high end brand such as this.

Christmas Day Outfit

Earrings - Swarovski
Lipstick - MaxFactor
Necklace - Swarovski
Dress - New Look

This year I spent Christmas Day with my family and boyfriend at my parent's house. My family like to dress up for Christmas Day as it's such an important religious holiday for us, so I decided to buy a new dress specially for it!

I chose this stunning skater dress from New Look. I basically never go into New Look any more, at 21 I feel I've outgrown it and prefer more chic brands such as Zara. I happened to spot this as I was walking past though and thought it was ideal. It's high enough at the front and just long enough short skirt (almost hitting the knees) to be modest enough to wear for my grandparents whilst being attractive and fitted enough to look good enough in front of my boyfriend.

I absolutely LOVE the lace design on this! That's what really made it stand out for me. All too often you find a dress with a gorgeous back or a stunning front but a boring, undesirable other side, ruining the whole dress. This finally has the best of both! It's a wonderful flowery lace design with a very attractive trim (edging).
It's the perfect combination of casual yet sleek, sophistication and elegance.

I completed the look with minimal, natural make-up but bright Max Factor red lipstick. Max Factor do great lipstick that lasts all day (even though big Chrismas meals!), though do be careful as it can easily go on your teeth if you don't blot well enough. I then curled my hair and styled it to the side so that the full effect of the dress' design can be shown off.

What did you wear for Christmas Day? Send me your blog links, I'd love it see!

Merry Christmas! xoxo
